Mono Coto Innovation Workshop Tools
August 2016

Mono Coto Innovation was selected for GOOD DESIGN AWARD 2017

Mono Coto Innovation, produced by Curio School is a design innovation contest for middle and high school students.

While many similar contests merely provide programs for students to only pitch their ideas, Mono Coto Innovation goes much further, allowing them to prototype their ideas with professionals and go through a series of iterations.

As a contract design engineer I
  • created the scoring system for judges with PHP and Google Drive API [GitHub link]
  • designed the props / layout of each venue for the 2016 contest
  • developed workshop tools (see Facilii.com for details)

Whitebox
August 2016

Exhibited at SXSW EDU 2018

Whitebox is a device that sheds light on the "blackbox" group work process.

Using Kinect V2, Whitebox keeps track of the conversation ratio, posture, handgesture and the talking volume of group work participants, and analyzes the content of the discussion through Google Cloud API.

By making group work evaluation easier and more accurate, I hope that more and more shcools will adopt group work styles and strive for more flexible, creative education.

Web Test Destroyer
July 2018

Github repo

Amongst mnany of the weird things in Japan, one of the weirdest is the traditional system in which new university graduates go through to look for a job.

I wrote a piece on Medium to explain why it's so weird.

Web Test Destoryer is a Chrome extension that will automatically scan the questions of the meaningless web tests in the job hunting process, and match them with pre-exsiting database of answers that is often shared amongst students.

The intention is to eliminate these meaningless web tests as soon as possible.

Hand Wash DJ
April 2020

Try it HERE

WHO states that the right way to wash your hands is to "scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds", which takes about as long as singing "Happy Birthday" twice.

Handwash DJ enhances the appropriate hand wash experience by playing a random song on Spotify for exactly 20 seconds.

Before you wash your hands, say "Okay Google, Hand Wash DJ", and scrub your hands until the song finishes.

By applying face recognition to the face drawn on the stomach, it generates music from the position of facial parts.

There is no doubt that the Japanese society is backed up by the nomikai culture: we must do all we can to sustain that culture even amidst the COVID quarantine.
